MI eco-chain star enterprise Roborock rolled out Roborock H6 days ago, possibly its first self-owned handheld model. Following Dyson V8 in exterior and featuring metal black instead of MI classic white, it is impressively positioned close to Dyson’s high technology instead of cost performance.

Mediocre in appearance, it highlights such performance as 420W brushless motor with 140AW suction power, 90-minute duration time and 1.4KGS weight, as well as finer filters.

A motor drives its bristles for more cleaning power, which resembles the new model of Dyson. I wonder if this relates to Dyson patent.

The device offers two options in starting: Lock mode, pull the trigger once and work, twice and stop, and Unlock, pull all the time for work and release for stop.

It offers rich accessories but nothing special.

The best innovation is soft packed lithium battery first applied to vacuum, a core not stressed on Roborock website.

As you know, among nickel-cadmium, nickel hydride and lithium, 18650 cylinder lithium cell is mainstream in vacuums and electric tools, alongside initial application of 21700 cylinder lithium cell.

Soft packed cells, or polymer lithium cells, are largely applied to cellphones. It features:

1.Low heat. 18650 cylinder lithium cell shows high heat and this will get worse and possibly result in device breakdown when applied to a motor of higher power.

2.High energy density. Soft packed lithium cell has higher energy density than cylinder one that equals longer work time.

3.Lightweight. Soft packed lithium cell is light, able to tackle heavyweight handle of cordless vacuums.

4.Flexile modeling. Soft packed cell enables rich customizable options in modeling.

Despite so many advantages, it is expensive, 30% more than common lithium cell of the same energy density. Another concern is difficult shift to another supplier if cooperation does not go smooth, unlike free change of cylinder lithium cell suppliers.

It is soft packed lithium cell that contributes to long duration, lightweight and large power of this Roborock arrival.

Some producers of soft packed lithium cell connected me in 2019, which was unexpected because I thought packed power products will be available at least two years later. The fact is that some has been available in early 2020.

Roborock’s spirit of innovation deserves a thumb up. Next in the first half year of 2020, another handheld vacuum of soft packed cell from a magnate will also hit the market. Will the year of 2020 see a boom of soft packed cell?
